A medida que se acerca el año de publicación del libro, las selecciones anuales se vuelven más mediocres. Se nota que los críticos que confeccionaron la lista estaban todavía condicionados por las modas y hypes del momento. Echo en falta el «One Beat» de Sleater-Kinney y el «Murray Street» de Sonic Youth. Si contamos bandas sonoras, fueron excelentes la de «Punch Drunk Love«, de Jon Brion y la de «Demonlover«, de (otra vez) Sonic Youth… En fin:

No soy nada de versiones, pienso que en los últimos tiempos se está abusando demasiado de ellas en la música popular. Versionar es un plato muy tendador para aquellos que quieren sacar un hit a toda costa, pues trabajan con material de eficacia probada. El precio: un atentado a la creatividad.
